Dusty is a rather brilliant label that does a fine job of balancing the fine line between avant-garde and wearable. Created by Finnish designer Marjut Uotila, the collection is inspired by modern handcraft, the freedom of creation and that balance between simple and decorative. The ambition of the brand is to create menswear pieces that have never been seen before. A tough premise if there ever was one. For Spring 2015 Scandinavian design merges with traditional menswear with an art focus. It is fabrics used and the way that techniques are employed that make the collection an interesting one. A simple crew neck sweater in blue features a complex rope inspired design, and a backpack is made from a quilted fabric with working seatbelt style straps. While these pieces are inspired by art, they remain wearable and desirable.
