The label SOSNOVSKA self-proclaims to “provide order in the darkness by merging surreal emotions with dedicated functionality.” The garments from the label’s S/S ’15 collection look as if they were constructed for performance. High-necked tunics and loose fitting bottom halves, give the impression of items derived from a warrior’s wardrobe. The silhouettes are simple and structurally experimental: dropped hems give an elongated stature, and a delicate feel to the masculine shape.
Colour-wise the palette is limited. The SOSNOVSKA pieces come in cranberry red, off-black, ice white and sullen grey; giving an intensity and determination to the looks created. The materials chosen are lightweight, and of high-quality, contributing to the idea that the clothing is made for functional purposes. Inconspicuous zip fastenings and the limited use of buttons add to the basic vibe given. Accessories take the form of round-toed black militant boots and an oversized satchel bag; it’s all very utilitarian and unpretentious.
