Fascinated by the power of the mind and its influence over the body, 3.Paradis created the ‘Placebo’A/W15 collection; a futuristic spin on scientific work wear, Japanese culture and classic men’s tailoring. And work wear is the operative phrase here. The muted, sterile colour palette is highlighted almost ubiquitously by an imposing red stripe around the waist or thighs, giving the impression of uniform. This is “minimalism with a subtle touch of madness.”
Oversizing silhouettes, omitting jacket lapels, offsetting zip placements and unexpected finishes; 3. Paradis have deconstructed traditional menswear conventions to conceive a truly idiosyncratic aesthetic. The designers’ experience, living in Montreal, Hong Kong and all over Europe, is translated into subtle design elements, such as kimono-inspired cross-over shapes and sleek suiting- all working in unexpected harmony. The bomber jacket- in all of its manifestations- is an unquestionable 3. Paradis trademark, epitomising the duo’s love for street wear cool; easily styled, yet exuding attitude, the outerwear pieces are arguably the most covetable of the collection.
