Originally from Sydney, Eddie is just one of the new wave of Australian designers that are creating quite the impression on the fashion scene. Now based in Barcelona, after finishing his BA in Fashion Design at the prestigious IED Barcelona in conjunction with Westminster University. Colour Me In is his debut collection and the recipient of the Best Collection Award at Barcelona Fashion Week in July. The collection is derived from considering colour palettes as seen on the uniforms of guards at correctional facilities. Using white as a starting point, colour is boldly splashed in blocks, often in vibrant tones like orange, yellow and red. Proportions are also exaggerated, exhuming a sense of power and fabrics are functional as well as aesthetically pleasing – double bonded stretch cotton and rip off Velcro both help to heighten the foreboding threat of exposure.
