Japanese label, Kielo, fuses many different textiles and colors to create pieces that seem to be straight out of a storybook for their AW 13 collection. Erika Mizuno and Yuta Yajima are the designers that make up the label, and have a rather impressive background in the field of the arts. Erika studied fashion at Bunka College of Fashion in Tokyo, Japan, and also has background in oil painting. Yuta, who grew up in the United States and Holland, returned to his native land of Japan after graduating high school to study economics. The pair then met while attending the very prestigious Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp, located in Belgium. They each tap into their own unique background with the arts and integrate those experiences to each piece. While looking at the collection, one can see the difference in artistic expression within the looks that comes from each designer. Between the use of harmonious color, eclectic prints, and whimsical silhouettes, these two designers have truly gave birth to something unique.
