Christopher Kane’s SS15 menswear collection was rather immediately covetable. Unfortunately, that isn’t always all that interesting. And from a designer as celebrated as Kane is for his forward-thinking, taste-making, trend-defining touch, we could have perhaps excepted a little more. Albeit somewhat safe, the collection was – of course – very nice. That motif that referenced turning pages was brought forward from AW14 womenswear to a delectable colour palette, that seemed to be an update to primaries. Cuts were fairly classic which made for clean lines, with a notable slimness of the waist of many of the suit jackets, which wasn’t too distant a cry from Dior’s bar jacket, and so a veritable point of interest among such conventionally masculine garments. There were also accessories aplenty, demonstrative of the stature of the brand as it continues to flourish and grow with its big-business backing. And with such a gamut of commercially viable pieces, this collection will doubtless serve to ensure that growth too.
