Hood By Air’s sublime collaboration with British knitwear specialists Corgi has launched in store at Selfridges London. The collaboration has been one of the year’s most talked about, and it melds HBA’s much vaunted take on androgynous streetwear with Corgi’s more traditional business of knitwear. The collection was launched with a bang at last season’s LCM with a star studded skater boy fashion show featuring tattooed model Jimmy Q along with a phalanx of street-cast skaters and rollerbladers.
Described by designer Shayne Oliver as “what beach bums wear when the sun goes down”, this sublime collections of edgy knits offers a new take on the ‘sweater’, and in line with Hood By Air’s ethos proposes a new, boundary breaking evolution in the continued renaissance of knitwear, challenging the norms in which it is perceived, whilst also showcasing a stylistic diversity. The collection is gothic and minimal, with each piece flaunting Hood By Air’s signature androgynous twists (sweater or dress?), drawing inspiration from the streets and American sports uniforms. Layering, oversized silhouettes and design details such as cut away panels, plus the proudly emblazoned ‘HBA’ logo, make this incredible collection a must have for men with strong senses of self expression and individualism.
