James Long offered a slicked up SS14 at London Collections pairing his signature knits with a sporty showing that was pleasantly surprising. The self confessed knitwear punk and recent Topman collaborator entitled his collection ‘Beyond The Veoldrome’, and paired the two things for which he is most known for; leather and knits, in an aerodynamic fusion of futurist sportswear.
Showing an incredible technological skill and knowledge through cuts and material use, Long proved himself a master of intellectual fashion, these are not just clothes of whimsy, but well thought and conceptualised pieces. He reaches new heights in his work, and the collection is not only polished but sexy. Fitted knits pair with loose shorts, cycling tops bring a sense of British sportsmanship when paired with white shorts, but it is in the outerwear that Long really excels, some of the most covetable pieces we were privileged to see at this seasons shows.
