In Peir Wu’s AW13 collection you will see sportswear and classic tailoring with new fabrics and techniques. Always bringing new elements to the old ‘classics’ making them modern and unexpected by focusing on fabrics and techniques you have not seen before. For the most part, she kept her muted palette in shades of grey and black but she surprised us with a few elements of dark green, olive and brown. As far as fabrics, she uses power mesh, knits and cotton applying her knowledge of tailoring with clean, considered, and progressive shapes.
Tailored jackets, trousers, shirts and coats are the main pieces in this collection. Relaxed suits and paneled jackets are some of her staples but she always make sure they have something different and unique to offer. For example with her jackets, she takes away the lapels and the welt pockets, adds a hidden zip closure instead of a button closure and ribbed sleeves. It’s very simple and at the same time easy to wear. It’s the perfect balance between tradition and innovation.
