“We are all connectedly disconnected” – The steely expression coined by Six Lee in an attempt to recognise the decline in human affinity. Through a collection awash with soft dreamy tones and boyish silhouettes the fanciful designer sought inspiration from modern culture and its fixation with technological advances. Consumed by surveying the lives of others and documenting that of our own, Six Lee strives to emphasise the lack of authentic existence in existing society using his designs as a mouthpiece. Striped wool, cotton and transparent silk are detached to reflect this disconnection whilst techniques such as heat transfer, embroidery and leather work encourage their restoration. Clean cut, sharp and subtly romanticised, SS16 sees Six Lee craft a contemporary aesthetic founded in narrative and charged with emotion.
