The beautifully defined and elaborately natural photography of Stephan Würth is neither controversial nor conforming to the usual types of portraiture we often associate ourselves with. His photography highlights the body in its natural form, embraces indifference, captures landscape and the cultural influence of environment- and as a result fashion- and manages to do so in an almost age respective manner.
His black and white series seem to need little or no editing, as the photography is beautifully enhanced by natural lighting, location and a good workman’s ability. The gelatine silverprints often lack the morbid lack of emotion that a lot of modern photography enhances; Wurth embraces this notion of portraying natural and fun emotion within his work.
The ‘Ghost Town’ collection of images highlight natural environment in a positive manner. The images show beauty and serenity in an environment that hasn’t been industrial tampered with. What other location could so beautifully enhance the natural form of the beautiful models used?! None.
